Rio Lagartos Adventures is a cooperative made up of local families.

Diego Nunez,(an experienced and trained bird guide,naturalist and avid fly fisherman) pioneered eco-tourism in Rio Lagartos more that 10 years ago when he established the cooperative.
He has attended many classes and workshops on nature, birds and preservation of the Bio-reserve and Petenes(fresh water springs). He has studied with Barbara McKinnon

He is a qualified nature and birding instructor who has helped train the members of the cooperative and has given classes to many groups of children and adults to help further their appreciation and understanding of the natural world around them.
Diego and the cooperative have assisted visiting scientists and biologists with their research efforts and have been involved with bird monitoring,flamingo banding,crocodile tagging,maintaining water flow in the area's fresh water springs,reforestation, as well as animal rescue work with sea turtles,flamingos, and area birds.
Diego uses binoculars, bird books, and equipment from the Birder’s Exchange sponsored by the American Birding Association. He is proud to be part of the ABA.

English,Italian,Spanish and Mayan speaking guides are available.
All guides are trained and certified and experts in spotting and identifying the area's wildlife.
