Best time for fishing is during the months of May,June, July, August and part of September.

October, november, december , january , february and march is the time of year when we have occasional windy cold fronts ( nortes) that make fishing on the gulf of mexico difficult . But we can  fish in the protected areas of the estuary. There are a lot of small tarpon, some snook and sea trout around .

Migratory species (schooling fish) are abundant in the bay of Rio Lagartos because of the  passage of current from the Gulf of Mexico to the Caribbean. There is a large amount of plankton and therefore species are abundant.

Migratory fish are the reason why Rio Lagartos is a world-class destination for angling.

In the low mangroves we find baby tarpon and snook throughout  entire year if the weather  is  a good.

Beside tarpon the  are also plenty of grouper, barracuda, snapper, cobia, lady fish, bonito, mackerel and jacks  clavelle.

Our boats have a  forward platform(deck) to make fishing easier

Our  boats are specially designed for fishing and carry all the safety equipment as well as  VHF radios , GPS,  etc.

Come to enjoy this paradise especially for fishing.

.

Bring your own fishing equipment, rods, reels, hooks, lures but if needed,  Rio Lagartos Adventures can provide you with professional equipment.

The guides who will  assist you  specialize in sport fishing and the ecology of the area. The guides are local fishermen  and have years of experience guiding and fishing in these areas.

We are experienced flyfishing guides

The fishing spots are between 20 and 40 minutes to an hour away from the port of Rio Lagartos and have a depth ranging between 1.5 and 6 meters.
